Nestled on the gentle slopes of a hill in Vietnam’s Northwestern midland region, quietly sheltered beneath the tree canopy, Maive’s Hill is conceived as a retreat defined by a journey of experiencing nature. The project seeks to create a place where people can step away from the noisy rhythm of urban life, embracing stillness and balance. To achieve this, a modern architectural language is adopted—restrained and minimal—yet never detached from its natural surroundings. The house is composed of two primary volumes crowned with bold sloping roofs, wrapped in a calm, dark-toned material palette that creates a subtle contrast with the surrounding greenery. From within, expansive glazed openings extend the visual horizon, allowing the mountains and forest to become an integral part of everyday living. Architecture here acts as a backdrop for nature. Layers of open spaces, a terrain-following swimming pool, climbing plants, and lush vegetation envelop the building, enabling it to merge seamlessly with the local landscape rather than imposing itself upon it.
